the dirty version or the 3 track promo single
that includes the Instrumental and Radio version Is...

I am..or was in talks with a dude that has the ORIGINAL version of
"U Can't Handle This" that was recorded for his first single off his
second local album entitled "13 Years". I have been offered money
and whatnot BUT I really want a good rip of that song. I have it
on CD but its scratched and wont rip at all.

The Entire album was scrapped when JIVE picked him up and the
only person with the masters are Precise and David Faulk.
Other tracks that where recorded for this Unreleased 2nd Big Boy album
include the Original versions of "13 Year's", "I Ain't Playing" and a Intro, Outro
and 2 unamed tracks. which I have.
Once I get this I will release what will be the "13 Years" EP to the masses.
Tagged Free for once.

So If any one has a decent rip of "U Can't Handle This" 1995 Original Big Boy
version or any of the UNRELEASED formentioned tracks in good quality.
I will Gladly trade the promo single in return for it.

What really catches my ear on this Compilation is the flipped
Neil Young "Southern Man" sample. Track 2.
Some History for that ass.......
Few really know that BEEFING on wax actually originated
in the Classic Rock world in the 70's over that very song.
Neil being from canada, made that song about what he thought
a typical southern man's life is like.
Then Lynyrd Skynyrd, yes I am typing this correctly,
Lynyrd Skynyrd fired the first shot ever documented in recording
history at Neil Young on the song "Sweet Home Alabama".
So the dirty south started this form of audio retaliation.
Now That's Beef....Lol.
Just one to grow on.

Rapper Tim Smooth died at age 39, early this morning, after a long battle with cancer.
Born Timothy Smoot – and known as “the Knight from Kennedy Heights” - the rapper was considered a pioneer of New Orleans hip-hop. He established his reputation as an MC while still a teenager; in an interview last year, he recalled sneaking out of L.W. Higgins High School in Marrero at lunchtime to battle other rappers on their school’s playgrounds. In 1991, he released his first single, “I Gotsta Have It,” for Dallas-based Yo! Records, and label-hopped after that, putting out albums on Houston’s Rap-A-Lot label and the local indies Big Boy and Mobo.
At Big Boy Records, he met and mentored Mystikal. During a respite from his illness, Smooth made an appearance on the mic with his old friend during a House of Blues concert last December.
"Had I never met Tim, I would be a totally different artist," Michael "Mystikal" Tyler told Times-Picayune music writer Keith Spera today.
"He even co-wrote the title cut with me on 'Mind of Mystikal.' Thanks for the memories."
News of the rapper’s death spread rapidly today via blog and social-networking sites. The newly-formed hip-hop collective New Orleans Union for Entertainment posted a tribute on their web page. DJ EF Cuttin, a longtime friend of Smoot’s, wrote a heartfelt obituary on his site.
“I hope they remember how he was – he was a friend to everybody, everybody loved him,” said his sister, Nicole Smoot.
“He never had a fight in his whole life, and he was 39 years old. He was a happy person. He was always cracking jokes, and even with the cancer, he never didn’t have a smile on his face.”
Funeral arrangements for Smoot are pending.

A New Orleans-based rapper known to his fans as Tre-8 died after a car accident in Algiers Saturday night, his mother confirmed today.
Aubrey EdwardsWalter McCallon, known as Tre-8, in a picture taken for "Where They At: New Orleans Hip-Hop and Bounce in Words and Pictures, " an exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
Tam McCallon Fischer said Tre-8, whose real name was Walter McCallon, 37, died in a hospital after the accident on Tullis and Woodland drives. His daughter, two nieces, a nephew and the mother of his children were in the car with him at the time, and are all in the hospital, Fischer said.
The accident sparked memorials for the musician on his Facebook page and in other social media websites.
McCallon attended L.B. Landry and O. Perry Walker high schools on the West Bank. He played in both schools' marching bands, experimenting with snare, tenor drum, French horn and trumpet, but found his real musical calling in hip-hop.
In his early teens, McCallon became a backup dancer for Bennett, the rapper and producer known as Ice Mike, who produced early New Orleans hip-hop artists including Bust Down and Joe Blakk. At Bennett's home studio, he learned engineering and production skills that led him to work producing tracks for the West Bank indie label Slaughterhouse Records while still in high school.
McCallon recorded his first songs as a teenage rapper alongside Tim Smooth as a member of the group Westbank Coalition in 1993. At 16, he became one of the first artists signed to Master P's newly minted No Limit records label. His debut (and only release) for No Limit, "Ghetto Stories," came out in 1995, characterized by his signature raspy vocals and exaggerated horror-movie and gangsta themes cut with a dark sense of humor.
After his departure from No Limit, he continued to produce other artists and record his own material for local independent outfits like South Coast Music Group and his own imprints, Smoke 1 Records and Purple Haze Prodctions.
In March 2011, he released "Black & Purple" with the group Dem Haze Boyz, his first album since 2008's "Most Underrated."

I figured It's just fitting to post this up since it's Halloween.

This Is Tre-8's Remake,or Reloaded as it's titled, of his Classic

Fright Night album that dropped back in the day.

With Beats similar to the original but pretty much minus all the

samples that where included in his previous works tracks.

He Even switches up the lyrics on a couple songs.

On the title song Fright Night

he combines the lyrics of both

Fright Night the original with Master-P and Fright Night 2 which was

found on "Dey Scared of Me" and that one featured J-Dawg of Black menace.

He stays true to the original on this one

and actually makes a remake possible without tarnishing his classic.

Murdafeen is a downtown 7th Ward New Orleans artist that dropped his one and only

album in 1999 on Bullheaded records. He has some later work but just random shit.

This is actually a pretty solid album but the stand out tracks for me was always

the self titled "Me and Ma Dawgs" and the radio played "Hold Up".

This came out around the turn of the century when N.O. rap was changing

from really hardcore lyrics and traditional sampled music into Stuntin and shining thanks to CMR.

That's why alot of people don't fuck with anything out of New Orleans past the year 2000.Not all but most.

I wouldn't give someone 15 bucks to brag to me about what they have.Would you?

Sorry for the rant, I guess I'm still in shock that the Saints fell to the Browns today.

This CD is not at the top of my list of Untouchable Releases.

Great tracks including the Demo version of "Down in the Boot"

featuring Tre-8 and a slew of others that didn't make the Charlie

Hanseen completed version.

I guess this CD is a time capsule because Bone was popping at the time

so the fast paste lyrics are a reflection of that and the West coast

sound was on top so that explains the "Funk" of this disc.

P and C never really saw eye to eye.
Back in the NL days they where notorious for arguing with each other
over the way no limit was going.
Heres a little tid-bit, The album from TRU-Da Crime Family had to be
recorded in separate sessions because C and P where at odds with each
other and refused to be in the same room with each other during the
recording of that album.
I remember hearing that from TEK over at NoLimitSoldiers.com and
he was the authority on that shit.

By Souljas of Sorrow a group consisting of the CEO of Mobo Records,

Mobo Joe, was the song that caught my ear as me and my patna was cruising aimlessly and very intoxicated in New Orleans in the a.m. hours.

I used to love to listen to the DJ's on Q93 really late/Early in the morning because they didn't play the same garbage that filled their "Prime Time"

air waves. This would be the only time a song like this would ever be played...and it did...and I remembered it and sought after it.

This is one out of the two Compilation albums Mobo did to showcase their catalog of artist and give you a preview of up-and-comers.

The only thing I hate is the "Remixes" of the Ruthless Juveniles and Dog

House Posse songs.You own the Masters to these.Why not Take the Acapella and Remix it the way it should be instead of just adding other drum samples and weak keyboard synths over the existing tracks.

Beyond that, It's straight.

Came across this and bought it just for the now infamous and highly sought after response from Mystikal to U.N.L.V.'S-Drag 'Em N Tha River

titled "Back From the River".It's a totally new rendition of the song we New Orleans people have known to consider a classic"Here I Go".

Two places I have herd this song, None being on the Internet, Once on the radio in 96' and a clip on the 98' Dj Al presents Bounce-60 minute Louisiana Mixtape which ironically blends it with Drag Em'.

Besides the for mentioned Precise produced song,This promo also came with the Instrumental to "Here I Go",Radio version,LP Version and a very

New York sounding Remix produced by Jesse West with the Instrumental to accompany that.

The Jesse West Remix is awkward because like the Remix to "Out that Boot Camp Clicc" it has a basic NY beat trying to contain a high energy southern rapper and it does not work well.

I have never seen this and it is not listed on any of his discographys, so with that in mind I bought it along with a couple other Vinyl singles.

Turns out it actually has the Demo version of "Not That Nigga" and the Instrumental to accompany it on the B-Side. After Reading about "Turntable Tech Issues" over on the T.a.G. Blog I started ripping all my rare 504 wax and have come to appreciate the speed of Disc burners.

I know what your thinking..why is this dude not scanning this stuff?

Well for two reasons one being my scanner is down and Two I think taking a picture of this stuff is more personal and intimate.

And if I ever list any of this stuff for sale on Ebay or any private buyer, the ground work is done.

This is the maiden voyage on my Attack of the 320's series and I could not think of a better CD to spread around the net then this one.

One of the most SOLID disc's to drop from Untouchable or even in the New Orleans area period at that time.

This dude would have got put on if not for the "L" he got for murder.

Manny Fresh shows up on two tracks with production like he always did before CMR locked him down. His efforts are on "Gettin' Involved" and the Single that burnt up the radio down here "True Players"

His other note worthy production for Untouchable/Tombstone was L.O.G.'s G'z and Soldiers in which he produced the title track.
Just like my last post a typo exist on the tracklist to this cd too.

The last track(the best in my opinion)Is actually the explicit version not the radio version.So I fixed that when ripping this.

Got some stuff today, Including another Sealed cassette version of G-Slimm-Fours Dueces and Treys but one of these Tracklist's is misleading.

Im a fiend for Instrumentals and Acapellas from local rap artist.
So when I came across the Tim Smooth-Kaboom!! 4trk Promo from his
"Da Franchise Player" 98' mobo release I was like cool I got another artist for the mixtape. Dropped the 4 Bucks at the counter and bounced.
When I opened the wrapper and popped it in to rip it at 320kbs.....to my disarray Mobo records made a error in the Track listing.

As requested by someone in the ShoutBox. This dropped on Mobo Records around 95/96ish. Mannie Boo the main producer Ricky B. used to use for all his production died sometime ago. This is his second release, with the first being in 94' as an E.P. on the same label Certifiying his "Shake for ya Hood" and "Ya'll Holla" tracks as New Orleans classics.

He was featured on one of the Mobo clicks, a compilation album from the label, and dropped an underground tape that was an E.P. like his first after Mobo Records closed shop. After doing a stint in a Federal Penitentary he released "The Felony Squad" with Mannie Boo and this would be his last work known to date, also this was the last drop by Mannie Boo because he was killed short after its release.

I'm debating on poppin' the cherry on this SEALED version of

Partners n Crime's First album and ripping it Just for the

Pussy-N-A-Can (Radio version)...which I have only come across once on the net.

People seem to think PnC3 is their first release but let me set the record

str-8.

I also have the cassette tape of this Still sealed in all its 94' glory.

The diffrence between the Wax and Tape versions

(which is the ONLY format this was made on)

is the cassett has "We are at war-Show em' what cha made of"

the song that single handedly set off the BigBoy/Cash Money Beef

and the 3 "Shouts" at the End.

Im' not going to pop the Seal on the tape since I have a dubbed version of it laying around and the one ripped on the net is the lowest quality tape rip I think in the history of tape rips itself.

Besides popping the seal on the tape would decrease its value since its going for about $80 dollars on ebay currently.

C-Murder originally signed him to his TRU Records imprint back in the day and this album was showcased in C's CP3.com booklet insert among him being on the album itself.He first popped up with Crazy in Master-P's "Golds in they Mouth" video.He was also along side Soulja Slim in the "I Don't give a Fuck" video with C.
On the WhiteBoyz soundtrack he collaborated with Snoop Dogg.
Then when C-Murder got locked up he was on No Limit in the group the 504 BOYz.

From Parkway pumpin' to Hype Enough to No Limit to Cut throat Commity and Kotch records, Magnolia(Soulja)Slim always brought his own style of rap to the table. I got his original tape "DarkSide"
by accident back in the day when i was walking home from school and found it laying on the ground.It even had scotch tape on it so the writing wouldn't scratch off.I thought maybe it didn't play or something but it plays fine.Now with Slim being dead and all, whoever lost it must be kicking them selves in the ass.This is his last official release before he got murdered and is alot better in my opinion from the original Years Later.B.G. really needs to release the "Uptown Souljas" duet album he has with Slim because we all ready for some new shit.

I have a bunch of promotional CDS laying around and these were the first two i grabbed from the stack. First is "Holla at me" by KLC(Beats by the Pound) B.G. and Mystikal. It has like most
CDS Dirty,Clean and Instrumental versions of the song. Drum Major, the album this is taken from has been pushed back more times than Detox. Six or more songs have already been leaked
from the album and they even shot a video for "Play it Loud" featuring Fiend, but no album has yet to see the light of day.

Before Mia-X was a good girl gone bad or the first lady of the No Limit tank, she was just in the
shadow of her older brother Fila Phil. This cd and His later one entitled "The Hustler Returns"
pretty much solidified him as a Downtown New Orleans Legend. Way before Nelly made this style of rap popular Phil was laying it down and kicking in doors
For a while he had found god and had a group called F.T.F.(Fighting the Flames)
but now he is back and resides in Florida...that's what his Myspace says at least.

Hustlin pays the bills dropped around the time that New Orleans murder rate was getting

national attention it was so high. One of Untouchable records first releases, it kind of has

a west coast sound to it. One track later appeared on L.O.G.S cd and "Down in the Boot"

is the pre-released stripped down version of a song that later appeared on Charlie Hanseen's cd.

Overall its a great cd but its way to short.

Another nice drop for yall. Mobo Joe the mastermind behind the westbank record label Mobo Joe records with his 2004 solo entitled "Federalli". Joe is responsible for such groups as Ruthless Juveniles,Dog House Posse,Souljas of Sorrow,Ricky B. and a lot more. This record sounds like all the other Mobo releases with is grimy, unpolished bass driven production that we all have come to love about the MoBo camp. I think the record label is now defunct because I haven't seen or herd anything come out from them in years...which is truly sad.

A Very tight 97' Take Fo' Records release.
I remember 2 joints from this album poppin' off on the radio back then
"Do the 2-Sweet" and "Ready to Rumble" with a guy that was trying really hard
to be Mystikal. One more really good track from this cd is "Do Like I Told Ya", what can I say
I'm a sucka for the Halloween piano.
I got her first tape with Take Fo' titled "Ready 2 Rumble" around here somewhere.When
I find it I will rip it and throw it up.

Going off the momentem of "Chopper" and "Downtown" playing on the radio and taking stage before Master-P at the 98' Teen Summit , "Please don't kill me" was released a year later in 1999.

The album is a step up Lyrically and production wise from his last effort.Radio however didn't receive this album well.The only track to ever get some play was the lil Keke collabo song tittled

"Holla at me".

The Original cover artwork for this album had

crazy holding a gun instead of the re-issued cover

where he as a rosary in his hand.

This would be his last project on Ruff Era records

due to contractual disputes with the label.

For the rest of the year he laid low guest appearing on numerous artist projects and even

appeared in a local jewelers commercial.

He was soon approached by C-Murder from No Limit/Tru records

early in 2000.Due to ongoing Legal battles with his former label he had

to change his name.So instead of "Crazy" he changed it to "Krazy" while under No Limit

contract.His first ever recorded song under No Limit was the B-Side to the 504 Boys

single "Wobble,Wobble" tittled "Play no Games".

I had to quote Shyne for the presentation of Crazy. He also goes by "Krazy"
or "Doc Holiday".One of the founding key members of the group "Murder Inc." along with fellow rappers Legend Man,Alamo and M.C. L.
who put out the albums "Playing 4 Keeps" and a Bonnie and Clyde type album
tittled "Lets die together" in the early 90's returns on his first solo effort
on Ruff Era records. I remember this album getting passed off as unreleased 2pac
material partly because Crazy has a very unique voice and does in fact sound
a lot like 2pac. You either like this guy or you don't. To all the naysayers
claiming he was and is still biting Pac go back and listen to his earlier stuff with Murder Inc.

Classic New Orleans Rap Videos.

At first when I made this Blog I was going to upload music in general that i liked.
Lately Ive just been listening to Classic N.O. rap shit.
So for now I'm going to just start uploading my entire collection of Louisiana and New Orleans rap cds and tape rips that i have. About 250 Albums or so.
All these other Louisiana rap sites take to damn long to update.
So every day or two check back for a new album.
If you got something to add to the mix...by all means do.

For now lets take a video trip to the past.

Before the Bling shit and commercialized stuff got in the way.

When Local artist actually tried and made damn good music.
Now they all sound the same.
We finna do this...We going platinum....bla...bla...bla.
No Limit gets respect for basically putting Louisiana and the south on the map, but,
at the same time its bitter sweet because it really was the end of successful local acts.
I will gladly take U.N.L.V.'S "Uptown 4 Life" over anything that came out after they signed
that deal.
